All About Pad Stitching
Waldgaefin Taran DaestingrBallroom A
Waldgaefin Taran Daestingr
What the heck is "pad stitching" and what is it for? This class will be an overview of all the ways this simple technique can up your garb game.
Pad stitching is of one of the most versatile and underutilized sewing techniques in historic costuming. It requires no special supplies or advanced sewing skills, but it makes a world of difference! Pad stitching is used for more than just attaching padding, it is the perfect thing for stiffening, stabilizing, and shaping fabric.
A brief 'how-to' will start off the lecture, but the focus of this class will be on the historic application of the technique. Samples of pad stitching in its many forms will be passed around to touch, as well as a small assortment of swatches for those who want to give it a try. Please bring your own needle and thread if you wish to practice the technique during the class.
